July and August Book Haul

Hello! It is time for the book haul again. I have brought a lot of books in the last two months. There are times that I can’t pass by free books. There is some free books on bookfunnel that I have found on Twitter. It is all ebooks and not physical books.

1. Experienced (A Real Man, 4) by Jenika Snow

He’ll show her how a real man treats a woman…

I’d never known how good it could feel to be taken care of by a man who knew what he was doing.

Until I was with Hugo…

I was older than she was.

She was innocent, hadn’t experienced all that life had to offer.

I could give her that experience.

Sabine consumed my thoughts, made me desire nothing else but her. No other woman compared to her, and because of that, I hadn’t been with a woman for four years, which was also the last time I saw Sabine.

But I was done feeling guilty for what I desired. I wanted Sabine in my life, by my side, and I was about to make that a reality.

I didn’t know if she’d ever been treated the way a female should … but I was going to show her how a real man takes care of a woman.

2. The Gryphon Chronicles: Books 1-2 (The Gryphon Chronicles Collections Book 1) by E.G. Foley

Take a dash of Harry Potter and a splash of Oliver Twist, add a pinch of steampunk and a sprinkle of Victorian fairy lore, and what do you get? The Gryphon Chronicles! A rollicking fantasy adventure series that’s as much fun for grownups as it is for kids.

This digital collection contains the first two novels in E.G. Foley’s bestselling series, The Gryphon Chronicles.

Orphan. Pickpocket. Rogue. Meet Jake—a cool-nerved lad of twelve surviving by his wits and his sense of humor on the hard streets of Victorian London. Clever, mischievous, and a little too brave for his own good, Jake usually takes trouble in stride, but the most bizarre things have been happening to him lately. For reasons he cannot comprehend, he can suddenly see ghosts—and move solid objects with his mind! Maybe that’s why a Sinister Gentleman and his minions have now come hunting him. Suddenly on the run for his life, Jake plunges headlong into a wondrous world full of magic, mythical creatures, and deadly peril. A world that might just hold the answer to the one question that’s haunted him for years: the secret of who he really is.

“A wonderful novel in the same vein as Harry Potter, full of nonstop action, magical creatures, and the reality that was Queen Victoria’s England.” ~The Reading Café

Reunited with his aristocratic magical relatives and finally getting used to his supernatural powers, Jake travels abroad on his first-ever holiday to support his brilliant cousin Archie at the amazing international (steampunk!) Invention Convention, where the boy genius is set to unveil his new flying machine to the scientific world. Under the watchful eyes of their shapeshifter governess and tutor, the kids set sail aboard a luxurious ocean-liner bound for majestic Scandinavia, home of Viking legends and the old Norse gods. But they aren’t there long before BIG TROUBLE breaks out. There’s an angry Norse giant on the loose, and madcap Loki, god of mischief, is out to wreak whatever havoc he can cause…

7. Sweet Solace (Seattle Sound Series) (Volume 1) by Alexa Padgett

Betrayal Broke Them Once…

We can’t afford to indulge in this attraction, but our connection burns too brightly to ignore.

My husband was the second man who betrayed my trust when he left me alone to raise my daughter. Asher was the first. I found solace from both in my novels, writing about the hero I’d lost. But in those bestselling books, Asher-I mean my hero-didn’t shatter my heart the way he had in real life.

There were so many things I couldn’t say to Dahlia when she was seventeen. But I’ve never forgotten the only girl I ever loved. My voice and song-writing talent made me star. Fame extracted its price. Now I have another chance-the chance to restore her faith in love. The chance to find it for myself.

I’m not letting Dahlia go now that I have her in my arms again.

Perfect for fans of the Kendall Ryan, Carly Phillips, and A. L. Jackson, Sweet Solace and its sequels take readers on an emotional, sexy journey of hot men and their feisty women who are transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love.

8. The Secret Zoo by Bryan Chick

Something strange is happening at the Clarksville City Zoo. Late at night, monkeys are scaling the walls and searching the neighborhood—but what are they looking for? This middle grade novel is an excellent choice for tween readers in grades 5 to 6, especially during homeschooling. It’s a fun way to keep your child entertained and engaged while not in the classroom.

Noah, his sister Megan, and their best friends, Richie and Ella, live next door to the zoo. Megan is the first to notice the puzzling behavior of some of the animals. One day Megan disappears, and her brother and their friends realize it’s up to them to find her. Their only choice is to follow a series of clues and sneak into the zoo. But once inside, will they discover there’s much more to the Clarksville City Zoo than they could ever have guessed?

9. Witch’s Reign (Desert Cursed Series Book 1) by Shannon Mayer

They think her an underdog against impossible odds…
And she will fight tooth and nail to prove them wrong.

The first in the plot twisting, heart pounding, magic riddled, USA Today bestselling Desert Cursed series.

The Witch’s Reign…a land of eternal, unnatural winter ruled by the Ice Witch. In turn she is guarded by three supernatural creatures who wander her lands hunting for unwary souls, killing any who cross their paths.

To get to the Witch’s Reign, you first must pass through the Dragon’s Ground. Full of dragons, who for the record, do not like trespassers.

This is where I am headed, though my mentor has forbidden me.

My best friend was sent with a team into the Witch’s Reign to recover a powerful jewel that belongs to our mentor, and they are long overdue to come back.

That leaves me, Zamira “Reckless” Wilson to go after my friend. Forbidden or not.

Somehow, I get saddled with a human male tagging along for the ride. A human that is as weak and useless as my own shifting abilities.

Throw in a sentient magical weapon that tries to kill me every time I touch it, and a small dragon that has a penchant for Shakespearean insults, and you’ve got my journey in a nutshell.

May the sands of the desert swallow me whole because this is going to be a damn bumpy ride.

If you like KF Breene, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter, Jaymin Eve, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, or Shayne Silvers, you won’t want to miss Mayer’s books!

The Desert Cursed Series should only be read by people who can root for an underdog, have a good sense of humor, a love for high paced action, and like a blend of magic that even a Muggle could love.
