When my environmental law firm gets hired to investigate a major corporation’s suspicious activity in the Montana wilderness, I need to see what’s up for myself.

I hire a former colleague in the area to navigate the rough terrain. Time has been good to him. So good, it’s hard to stay focused on work.

I left corporate law behind and swore I’d never look back. But when the one who got away—the woman who still haunts my dreams—asks for help, I can’t deny her.

Now, I’ll do everything I can to protect her. Even if it means risking my own life.

I feel almost everybody wants that stress free life. That peaceful life. That is what Max did. He left the east coast to Montana, near Glacier National Park. He is a former lawyer who turned into a adventure guide. His business is going well. Someone from his past shows up from five years ago. Someone who he use to work with. She needs his help to investigate a major corporation. It is Ash. An intern who has been off limits for five years.

I loved watching that couple. They tried to hide their feelings for each other but the longer they are together, the harder it became. They seemed to get along really well. Max is an Alpha male protector. He had some depth to him and some background.

The pull of the heart and work was done well. It was relatable as well. The world-building was done well and plot was good and catchy. Her books will pull you in. This is the 4th book in her Kings of the Mountain series. I love her stories and this book. The way Kate pulled everything together in a very short time was done very well. The characters had amazing chemistry together. You will not be disappointed by this book or any of the books in this series!!

If you need an escape then this series or this book is it. I loved the escape that they given me throughout this pandemic.
