Sarah J. Maas’s brand-new CRESCENT CITY series begins with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life―working hard all day and partying all night―until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose―to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion―one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom―and the power of love.
First, I like to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother’s out there!! Have a great weekend with your family!
Another new series by her. It is adult urban fantasy. I read the other series by her. I loved them. So, I was wanting read the first five chapters of this book. When I first heard the first five chapters was released, I was excited. I went Netgalley and saw it. So, I got it and read the chapters. I have read both Epic Fantasy and Urban Fantasy before. I have never read a book that has those two in it before. I think she is the first author who has done it. So, she is a pioneer in her own right by putting Epic Fantasy and Urban Fantasy by combining them into a book. There is no other author who has done this before. (If I am wrong about this, please let me know! Thank you!) It opens up a whole new possibilitys for other authors to explore. Just like what J.R.R. Tolkien did to Epic Fantasy. I am excited to read the rest of the book now and see how she did that.
The first few chapters was a lot of information about the city, the people, and the groups. It was a lot to process. I found myself going back to the page of where it explains the houses to see who in the houses. It was a lot to everything in order in my mind when it came to everything about the city. In my mind eye, I could image the details of the city and creatures.
The characters were so relatable and well-developed. I loved how Bryce and her best friend interacted around each other. It felt like the characters had college era about them.
I loved the new world and the whole new set of characters. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds in the book.
If you love Epic Fantasy and Urban Fantasy then you will love this book. If you are someone who is a fan of faes then you will love this book. Thank you!
