Magic is coming and going in waves in post-Shift Atlanta—and each crest leaves danger in its wake in this gripping novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Kate Daniels series.

After breaking from life with the Pack, mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate—former Beast Lord Curran Lennart—are adjusting to a very different pace. While they’re thrilled to escape all the infighting, Kate and Curran know that separating from the Pack completely is a process that will take time.

But when they learn that their friend Eduardo has gone missing, Kate and Curran shift their focus to investigate his disappearance. As they dig further into the merc’s business, they discover that the Mercenary Guild has gone to hell and that Eduardo’s recent assignments are connected in the most sinister way…

An ancient enemy has arisen, and Kate and Curran are the only ones who can stop it—before it takes their city apart piece by piece.

I did a book review on the book before this one. Click Here.

After continuing the journey with Kate in this book. I got to experience her with the pack and not with the pack. But this book took me on an adventure. This is my second book that I read by this author. This book is not a stand alone. If you start with this book then you will miss a lot. You would have to start with the first book. It started with her friend, Eduardo is missing. Kate and Curran is the only ones to find him. They have to defeat ancient enemy. They have incorporated some Islamic myths from the Middle Eastern nations. That fit nicely into the world that they created.

The plot deals with Eduardo disappearance and Kate’s mission to find him. Their is action in this book. As you read deeper into the book, the more you will see the mythology developed. I enjoyed it. I have never read a book that had myth in it. It was a new twist for me. I thought the plot was great. There are some funny parts in it like the last book. A new way to keep the story line fresh. You will see the characters involve Couples in a new place.

There are more creatures in this book. The authors made them a part of the story which I thought that was cool. One creature in the book, I looked up just to get a picture in mind. I won’t say which creature because I don’t want to spoil it.  If you are really into mythology then this book is for you. They carefully crafted it into the plot.
