Today’s pick is Books I Bought/Borrowed Because…(Then we fill in the blank.) I am going to do 10 books that I bought for the reason. The blurbs!!
Here is the list of the reasons why I bought these books!
1. Kate’s Crew (Powertools) Book 1 by Jayne Rylon-Ebook
The reason I bought this book is because of the blurb. This was the very first book by her. It was my second book of this type. I was hooked after I finished it. I have to read the blurbs to see if a book is for me.
Nothing’s sexier than men with power tools.
Sultry summer heat has nothing on the five-man crew renovating the house next door. No one could blame Kate for leaning out the window for a better view of the manscape. The nasty fall that follows isn’t part of her fantasy—but the man who saves her from splattering the sidewalk is definitely the star.
When Mike personally attends to her injuries, she realizes her white knight in a hard hat has a tender side, giving her no choice but to surrender to the lust that’s been arcing between them since day one. In the aftermath of the best sex of her life, she whispers her most secret desire: to be ravaged by his crew.
She never expected Mike would dare her to take what she wants—or that the freedom to make her most decadent desires come true could be the foundation for something lasting…
Warning: This book may cause you to spontaneously combust as five hot guys bring a woman’s wildest fantasies to life during one blazing summer affair.
2. Sign of the Griffin by Megan Linski Ebook
The blurb and the cover is the reason I got this book. Another reason, I wanted to read a book by this author. I love fantasy and creatures in it. I have not read this book yet but hoping to read it some day. This book is free on Amazon as well.
“Humans are dangerous. They can’t be trusted, Evee. Remember that.”
Evian grew up among griffins. She has never seen another human, and isn’t allowed to leave the safety of the flock’s island refuge.
Everything changes when Evian is given a magical sword by a mysterious cloaked woman… a sword that has been stolen from the halls of the mad King Casimir.
With her griffin brother Scout and her two best friends, Evian embarks on a quest across the realm to become a knight, free the people, and slay the evil King.
But to save the realm, Evian must uncover the secrets of her past– and the shocking truth of her heritage.
Reminiscent of classics like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Sign of the Griffin is a young adult epic fantasy novel of enduring friendship, great battles, and heroic deeds.
3. Fallen Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes Paperback
The book is a lot like of Game of Thrones but YA style. That is what got me about this book. It was on the back of the book also. I have not began the second book. There is six books in this series. I have a habit of starting a book and not finishing it. This is one of the books. I am trying to break that habit.
War brought them together. Love will tear them apart.
Princess Cleo of Mytica confronts violence for the first time in her life when a shocking murder sets her kingdom on a path to collapse. Once a privileged royal, Cleo must now summon the strength to survive in this new world and fight for her rightful place as Queen.
The King of Limeros’s son, Magnus, must plan each footstep with shrewd, sharp guile if he is to earn his powerful father’s trust, while his sister, Lucia, discovers a terrifying secret about her heritage that will change everything.
Rebellious Jonas lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country cruelly impoverished—and finds himself the leader of a people’s revolution centuries in the making.
Witches, if found, are put to death, and Watchers, immortal beings who take the shape of hawks to visit the human world, have been almost entirely forgotten. A vicious power struggle quickly escalates to war, and these four young people collide against each other and the rise of elementia, the magic that can topple kingdoms and crown a ruler in the same day.
4. That Old Witch by M.Z. Andrews Ebook
This book really sounded interesting. I have never read a book where the characters are seniors. I bought it for a Halloween read. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. It is out of the realm of the books that I normally read.

5. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas Ebook and Paperback
I read the blurb and was still undeceive. I read the Throne of Glass books and knew it was going to be a good book. But still didn’t know if this book would be good as the Throne of Glass. So, I just took that jump and got it. I am glad that I got this book. I just need to finish the series.
Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R.R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.
6. One True Mate 1-Shifter Sacrifice by Lisa Ladew Ebook
The blurb sounded really good cause I am into werewolves books. I like how the cover is as well. This kind of reminded me of Ghost Walkers by Christine Feehan. But leave out the shifter part. It was the police force that made it sound like a good book.
An all wolf-shifter police force has been the only thing between humans and an unknown evil for centuries, but the pack is in danger of dying if they don’t find their promised mates soon.
Trevor Burbank is a shifter cop in a world of humans who don’t know the evil that wants them dead. If he does his job well, the humans will never need to know, but he feels like he’s working against the clock, because his pack is about to die. The females have all been killed, and the half-breeds they make when they mate with humans aren’t skilled or strong enough to fight.
Gabriela Carmi has lost everything that means anything to her way too fast and now she feels like she’s losing her mind, too. On a quest to find something that won’t reveal itself to her, she feels as if she’s pining for someone who may not exist, so when an evil presence begins to follow her, she isn’t sure if her mind is slowly falling apart, or if the impossible is actually coming true. When an instant attraction sparks between her and the dangerously sexy police officer sent to help her, it makes matters worse and better at the same time.
It’s a race against time to find the angel/human hybrid One True Mates that the pack’s spiritual leaders say truly exist. Saving the shifter clans is on everyone’s mind, except for the chosen, the One True Mates, most of whom don’t even know who or what they really are, or why they seem to be slowly losing their minds.
You’ve NEVER read a shifter romance, or a fated mates romance like this before.
This is a republication of One True Mate 1, after a rights reversion back to Lisa Ladew.
7. Alex (In the Company of Snipers Book 1) by Irish Winters Ebook
I was wanted a military book then I saw this one. The dog on the front had me sold then I read the blurb. It sounded a good book.
Book Description: Each book in this series is a complete story unto itself. There are no cliffhangers. I wouldn’t do that to you. You can read them out of sequence. Enjoy!
He’s trying to forget….
Alex Stewart, ex-Marine and tough as nails boss of The TEAM, ditches the success of his fledgling business and flees to his cabin in the deep woods. He’s had enough. Four years after the deaths of his wife and daughter, he’s stuck in the anger stage of grief. Life used to make sense. It used to be worth living. Not any more.
She’s trying to remember….

But Alex can….
8. Winter of the Crystal Dances (Whinnies on the Wind Book 1) by Angela Dorsey Ebook
I love horses. After reading the blurb, I knew I had to get this book. I love to see the bond between the rider and horse. And plus it is near a cabin in the mountains as well. It was free on Amazon as well.
Evy can telepathically understand horses, but she’s not sure if it’s a blessing or a curse. Her secret “gift” certainly seems to get her in a lot of trouble.
When some starving mustangs wander close to the wilderness cabin that she shares with her hermit mother she knows she must help them.
Her act of kindness quickly snowballs into a series of events that forever changes her life and the life of a very special mustang filly.
9. Hannah (Farraday Country Book 8) by Chris Keniston Ebook
The blurb and cover got me. Cause it has horses in this book and a dog. So I can’t wait to read this book. But I do want to read books 1 to 7 since this is 8.
Tuckers bluff isn’t done playing matchmaker for the Farradays. Welcome to Hannah, book 8 in the Farraday Country series set in cattle-ranching west Texas, with all the friends, family and fun that fans have come to expect from USA TODAY Bestselling author Chris Keniston.
For Hannah Farraday, working at her family’s new equine center is a dream come true. Each of her cousins has found their happily ever after, but she’s not looking for Prince Charming. Especially not one who rides into town and knocks her boots over tea kettle.
Dallas police officer Dale Johnson plans to leave Texas in the dust. What should have been a pit stop in Tuckers Bluff is turned on its head when a chance encounter with a beautiful woman on horse back leaves him playing knight in shining armor.
Can fairytales come true when reality and dreams collide?
10. Lumberjack by Jenika Snow
The cover is what attracted me to this book then I read the blurb. I wanted this book. I have read this book and it is a great book. I will reread this book again. I like these kind of covers. With the nature as a background. I will do a book review on this book soon.
He hasn’t been with a woman in five years.
She hasn’t been with a real man … until now.
I’ve had enough of the crap that goes along with living in the city. So, I packed for a weeklong vacation in the mountains. Isolation in a cabin for the next seven days sounds like a good way to recoup and get my life back in order.
After getting lost while hiking, I stumble upon a cabin that has me questioning whether to ask for help, or if I should brave staying the night in the woods.
I left everything behind years ago after the woman I was with betrayed me. Now I work as a lumberjack and live my life as a recluse.
Being celibate for the last five years says a lot about my self-control, but I’m a man and have needs, and not giving into what I really want is hard as hell. But I can’t let myself get close to anyone, not even for a few hours. Getting close is how I got screwed over before.
As soon as I see Vivian, I know I have to have her. It’s been forever since I’ve had a woman. Because of a storm rolling in, she’ll have to stay with me overnight. We could do a lot of filthy things in that time.
I pride myself on my control, but when it comes to Vivian, I don’t know if I can keep my hands to myself.
I know I can’t.
I have needs, and it’s clear Vivian’s in need of a real man to help her unwind. I can certainly help her in that department.
